A Letter from Former Fitchburg Mayor Tom Clauder
Thursday, April 5th, 2012 @ 10:01PM
Dear Editor,
I recently made the decision to endorse Robb Kahl for the 47th Assembly District. This may surprise some since I just ran for State Assembly in Fitchburg as a Republican two years ago. However, as the former three-term Mayor of Fitchburg I had the opportunity to work with Robb when we served at the same time while he was Mayor of Monona. What I learned in working with Robb is he understands the need to move beyond partisan political differences to find a solution and he understands that when it comes to budgeting there needs to be a recognition of needs versus wants and a prioritization according to that understanding.
Robb has been endorsed by every current City Mayor, Village President and Town Chair in the new 47th Assembly District because these leaders also recognize that we need elected officials like Robb right now in Wisconsin. As a small business owner and former four-term Mayor of Monona, Robb has the balance of skills and knowledge, along with the needed temperament, to work with individuals and groups from all backgrounds to find solutions. Robb knows not a single group, individual or party has all the answers and that compromise is essential to moving our state forward. This is why I and these various local government leaders covering a wide spectrum of personal political views and political affiliations are supporting Robb.
Robb has the willingness to work cooperatively to find solutions. He is not a partisan politician but rather a leader and the kind of person we need to help bring change to Wisconsin politics. I hope that you join me in voting Robb Kahl for Assembly.
Sincerely,
Tom Clauder
Former Fitchburg Mayor
